Elgin V Berwick at Borough Briggs - Match Preview

Hoskins banned for Borderers

Mark Nicolson will return to the Elgin squad for the visit of Berwick.

Nicolson is back after a ban but not such good news for manager Ross Jack is that Stuart Leslie (groin) is a doubt and Paul Millar (knee), Lewis Halford (calf), Cieran McLean (ankle) and Darryl McHardy (toe) will all miss out.

Victory would see Elgin overtake their opponents in the race for a play-off place.

Ahead of the match, Jack said: "We have worked hard to get back into the play-off race with three wins and a draw in our last four games.

"We will need to work hard again against Berwick if we are to be in with a chance of winning and keeping our charge going.

"Berwick will want to hold onto fourth place but they need a win to do that so it should be an open encounter."M

Berwick make the long trip without Dean Hoskins.

Hoskins is suspended and the Borderers are sweating on the fitness of Chris Townsley, who is struggling with a groin problem.

The Shielfield men are already without the injured Dougie Brydon (groin), Marc Lancaster (back) and Dene Droudge (knee).

Ahead of the match, manager Ian Little said: "We have to keep our fingers crossed that Chris can make it as we are down to the bare bones without him.

"This is a big game and having got ourselves into fourth spot we want to stay there and the best way to stay there is by winning.

"We did well to defeat Queen's Park last Saturday and need a similar level of performance to win this game."
