Elgin V Peterhead at Borough Briggs - Match Preview

Malin set to start in Highland clash

Elgin City will have Joe Malin between the sticks against Peterhead as John Gibson has returned to Dundee at the end of his loan deal.

Paul Harkins has been ruled out of the all-Highland clash due a hamstring injury he picked up in the 2-0 defeat against Annan on Saturday and he could be joined on the sidelines by Jamie Duff, Craig Gunn, Graeme Beveridge and Lewis Halford who all face fitness tests.

Borough Briggs boss Ross Jack said: "Having lost our last two games teams are closing in now on second place so it would be good to get back to winning ways again.

"Peterhead will see this as a great opportunity to get above us so we need to be ready to battle for everything."

Peterhead striker Rory McAllister is a major doubt for the Highland derby after the effects of a virus left him drained and led to his substitution against East Stirling at the weekend.

Despite McAllister's departure the Blue Toon won 2-0, however manager Jim McInally is looking for an improvement.

"We need to up our game for Elgin especially in front of goal where we were not ruthless enough," he said. "This will be a cracking good old fashioned derby and they will be well up for it after losing to Annan so we know we are in for a hard shift.

"Our away from has not been good enough this season and it would be good to start 2013 by turning that around with a win."
