Elgin V Queens Park at Borough Briggs - Match Preview

O'Donoghue doubt for Elgin

Elgin midfielder Ross O'Donoghue is a major doubt for the visit of Queen's Park due to a back problem, with the Borough Briggs' resources already stretched.

Knee injuries keep Cameron MacDonald, David Niven and Cieran McLean out, an ankle problem means Ross McKinnon will be absent and Dennis Wyness is again missing due to his hamstring injury.

Ross Jack's side have slipped from second spot into fifth and the Elgin boss knows they have to arrest their slide to get back into the play-off zone.

He said: "The Third Division is tight and no-one can predict who the play-off teams will be. We are not out of things but we need to start winning games again.

"Queen's Park will be tough opponents but we can win this game."

Second-placed Queen's Park will be without striker Jamie Longworth for the trip due to work commitments, with the Spiders looking to bounce back from Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Montrose.

Tony Quinn is missing due to a hip injury and the Hampden side are also missing Aidan Connolly due to a family bereavement.

Sean Burns is a doubt after he sustained a knock at the weekend.

Head coach Gardner Speirs said: "I am not getting taken in by the disappointing run that Elgin have been on. They are a very strong team at home and all runs, good or bad, come to an end.

"This would be a great game to win as it would put space between us and the rest of the play-off chasing teams."
