Both McLeans leave

It had been thought that Charles McLean had signed a new one year contract with Elgin, but it has been reported this morning that the 30 year old striker has now retired.

McLean, who wouldn't have been available until January 2005 at the earliest, has called it a day as a player but will continue to help the club by doing some scouting and coaching down South.

The forward looked promising in preseason friendlies last season before getting injured in the cup game at Forfar. A brief appearance against East Stirlingshire next week only aggrievated the injury and McLean unfortunately picked up a similar injury in his comeback against Peterhead.

Meanwhile, Neil McLean has decided not to renew his contract at Elgin and has instead dropped down to the Highland League with the Inverurie Locos.
