Forres Mechanics 2-3 Elgin City

The game started off slowly, with both teams really struggling to take any control of play. The Forres side containing four ex Elgin players in Neil Whyte, Ryan Green, Michael Morrison and Graeme Grant, looked well up for this friendly as the challenges flew in hard. Alex Bone had an off the ball clash with the Forres centre back, winding up Jamie McKenzie. A few minutes later, on the half hour mark, McKenzie again had some words with the referee, which resulted him in sending the midfielder for an early bath.

The sending off spurred on the SFL side, who started to take control and create some chances. The visitors went ahead after 37 minutes when on trial midfielder Adam Nelson slipped the ball through to Bone, who slotted into the corner.

A couple of minutes later Elgin increase their lead when Bone played in Phil Reid who avoided the challenge of MacLean before slotting home. Elgin were looking like they could go on to score more but right on half time Morrison put through Charlie Brown, who found the corner of the net from 20 yards, the trialist keeper, Kieron Renton, doing himself no favours as he waved the ball past thinking it was going wide.

The second half started as the first and both sides created few chances. Bone went close on a couple of occasions, before adding a third after curling a shot round Rae from the edge of the area.

Both sides made numerous subs and the game, which had been played at some pace all afternoon, started to die out. Forres pulled one back 5 minutes from time when Brown found space in the box to lay up Roy who scored into an empty net.
