Moray Primary Select vs Milne's High

Last updated : 08 February 2005 By Joe MacKay
The squad, which was chosen after trials of over 60 children from schools all over Moray, kicked off with a great win at Forres academy 1st year. This time they were put up against Milne’s High School 1st year.
After a rigorous training session a squad of 16 was picked to travel the short distance to Fochabers. Several of the lads involved were not involved in the Forres game so it was to be their first taste of 11 a side football and the off side rule, add to that the fact they were playing on a pitch which could only be described as huge, it could have been a daunting experience. Once again the lads never let the coaches down.
In very wet conditions the Select went ahead early on, the size of the pitch actually favoured the Select team with their passing game. As a first half went on the Select grew stronger and by half time they had stretched their lead to 5-2.
During the half time interval both teams made several changes but the game continued in the same way and as the Select team grew in confidence so more goals came. After 70 minutes of entertaining football from both teams the match came to an end and at the final whistle the score was 10-3 to the Select.
The star of the second half was clearly the Milne’s keeper who made some excellent saves, which included a very fine penalty save. The coaches of the Select team would like to thank the Milne’s Team for allowing them the opportunity to play a match, and also Elgin City for the use of their mini bus for transporting the team.
Next up for the Select team is a very difficult trip to Tain on 11 December. The lads are always looking for matches so if you coach a team and would like to play against the Select please contact one of the coaches, via Elgin City.
