Despite not playing since being injured by Peterhead, the young striker could make his comeback in a Scotland jersey against either Belgium (Monday 20th) or Northern Ireland (Friday 24th). Both games will be played at Palmerston Park, Dumfries.
The former Motherwell youngster has been tagged as the next James McFadden but David Robertson disagrees.
"I've heard Philip being compared with James McFadden but I think he is a different type of player from him.
"He is very quick but he is only 17 and he still has time to develop further. To liken him to someone established like McFadden is probably unfair.
"Stevie Fulton had to live with the tag of being the next Roberto Baggio for years and it hindered him. If Philip keeps working hard he will be the next Philip Reid, nobody else.
"He is the type of boy who keeps his feet on the ground and if he continues to do that he can be his own man."
