Elgin City had to come from behind to keep their promotion hopes alive against a Rovers side who were worthy of at least a point.

Albion threatened after just 30 seconds, but midfielder Jamie Doyle saw his 40-yard effort drift just wide after Elgin keeper Kieron Renton had pushed a clearance straight to him.

But the home side did make the breakthrough in the 10th minute when Stephen Reid drilled home a low angled shot from inside the box.

Elgin responded immediately when Martin Johnstone broke clear, but Rovers keeper Gary McGlynn got down to force his shot behind for a corner.

Rovers should have doubled their lead on the half-hour mark, but Reid blasted over the bar after finding himself clean through on goal.

But Elgin levelled three minutes before the break when Johnstone rose at the far post to nod home a Jed Sterling cross.

Rovers began the second half in lively fashion and Reid was unlucky to see a strike go past the post from Andrew Selkirk's cut-back.

But it was Elgin who went ahead in the 78th minute through a Chris Gardiner shot from the edge of the box.

Elgin substitute Alan Muir was sent off for lashing out in injury time.
