Cawley helps Alloa to victory

Kevin Cawley hit his ninth league goal to help 10-man Alloa to a 3-0 win over Elgin.

Alloa took the lead after 16 minutes through Mark Docherty's stunning volley from a Graeme Holmes centre.

Cawley went close to stretching the lead but his effort rattled the bar.

The home side did double their advantage just before the hour, this time Cawley collected Stephen May's cross and slammed high into the net.

Elgin had a chance to get back into the game from the spot when Paul Millar was fouled by Ben Gordon, who was given a straight red card just after the hour. Jason Crooks stepped up but Scott Bain guessed right and saved.

Alloa made the score more emphatic in injury time when Ryan McCord drilled home from the edge of the area.
