Alloa Athletic 2-0 Elgin City

However, it was Elgin who almost got off to a dream start when, with two minutes on the clock, Andy Roddie whipped in a deep cross from the left wing only for Martin Harty's header to cannon back off the crossbar.

Ten minutes later, Alloa took the lead. Jamie Stevenson stole the ball from Stephen Black before he advanced into the Elgin half to feed Brown Ferguson who coolly finished the move.

Alloa continued to pile the pressure on Elgin in search of a second goal. Ross Hamilton headed over, Stevenson struck a shot off the bar and Walker ended a good run by shooting just over from twenty yards.

The equaliser almost came for City with half an hour gone. After good work on the right wing, Alex Bone passed to Allan Dempsie who crossed towards Harty but the tall striker was denied by Garry McGlynn's point blank save.

The homeside then doubled their lead five minutes from the break when Hamilton drilled in a cross from the left. Hamilton should have added another just after the restart but he turned a Walker cross wide from close range.

Towards the end of the match, Elgin repeatedly threatened the Wasps' goal but to no avail.

Jamie McKenzie put a long range effort over before McGlynn made up ground to save an effort from Adam Nelson after substitute Willie Martin had squared the ball in front of goal.

Roddie flashed a ball in front of both Phil Reid and Martin before later finding Reid who headed narrowly wide. Roddie also tried his luck from distance minutes after the winger miscontrolled the ball when trying to round the 'keeper.
