Livi too strong for Elgin
Livingston ensured their progression to the second round of the Scottish Communities League Cup with a 3-1 victory at Elgin,
It was the League Two side who posed a threat early on, with Paul Harkins forcing Darren Jamieson to tip over his crossbar in the opening few minutes.
But it was the visitors who took the lead in the 15th minute, when Martin Scott reacted quickest in a goalmouth scramble to prod the ball home.
Callum Fordyce doubled the lead in similar fashion after 39 minutes, as Livi began to turn the screw on their opponents.
However, Sean Crighton gave Elgin a lifeline on the stroke of half-time with a shot from close-range, just moments after a superb save by Jamieson.
Despite Elgin's best efforts, though, Marc McNulty sealed victory for Livi midway through the second half with a right-footed thunderbolt.
