Elgin 2-0 Berwick- Match Report

Sutherland double downs Berwick

Two first-half strikes from Shane Sutherland helped Elgin to a 2-0 win over Berwick.

The hosts dominated in the first half, taking the lead in the 37th minute when Sutherland steered the ball past Berwick shot-stopper William Bald from the middle of the area.

City continued to throw the kitchen sink at the Black and Gold and they doubled their advantage on the brink of half time when Sutherland unleashed a right-footed effort from the centre of the box.

Berwick improved dramatically in the second half and created a number of chances to get back into the game.

The best of these fell to Lee Currie, whose free-kick was tipped onto the bar by Elgin goalkeeper Raymond Jellema in the 84th minute.
