Elgin ease to victoryElgin eased away from the foot of Scottish League Two with a comfortable 4-0 at home to fellow strugglers Montrose. The damage was done in the first half as Elgin raced into a three-goal lead by the break, with Ally Gilchrist heading in the opener from Daniel Moore's cross in the 23rd minute.Montrose had the chance to equalise 10 minutes later when they were awarded a penalty but Stewart Black kept out Garry Wood's spot-kick.Things quickly got worse for the visitors when Ewan Moyes was sent off after being shown a second yellow card for a foul on Archie MacPhee

Moore was again the provider as Shane Sutherland doubled the lead in the 40th minute and it was Moore who teed up Mark Nicholson for the third goal on the stroke of half-time.The rout was complete after 77 minutes when Jamie Duff's header from MacPhee's pass sealed a miserable afternoon for Montrose
