Brian Irvine's unbeaten streak as Elgin City manager came to an end today after they were well beaten by Cowdenbeath.

Although Elgin started the better, Cowdenbeath took the lead in the 35th minute when a Hugh Dickson mistake was capitalised on by Mikko Paatelainen with a cool finish.

In the 58th minute Cowdenbeath doubled their lead when a Kevin McBride corner was headed goalwards by Innes Ritchie. Kieron Renton did well to deny him, but the rebound broke back to Ritchie who easily poked home from close range.

Goal number three came in the 64th minute when a good through ball from Markus Paatelainen was well finished by Mikko Paatelainen for his second goal of the game.

Cowdenbeath finished the rout on 68 minutes when a good ball across from Mark Baxter was well taken by David McKenna.

Cowdenbeath could have added another couple at the end, but both McKenna and Paatelainen were denied by Renton.
