Longworth bags four

Jamie Longworth scored four as Queen's Park hammered Elgin 6-0 to cement their place in the Scottish Third Division play-off places.

A superb Martin McBride free-kick gave the hosts the lead 10 minutes before half-time.

Longworth scored his first after 53 minutes when his right-footed strike found the top corner and the striker netted his eighth of the season with a header 14 minutes later.

He completed his hat-trick soon after with a crisp effort from the edge of the box.

A powerful drive found its way past Alexander Clark in the away goal with 12 minutes remaining as he added his fourth and Queen's Park's fifth.

Craig Smith's firmly planted header rounded off a profitable afternoon for Gardner Speirs' side who are now in touching distance with Annan Athletic with a game in hand.
